Fault Detection and Efficiency Assessment for HVAC Systems Using Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring: A Review

Heat, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are some of the most energy-intensive equipment in buildings their faulty or inefficient operation can significantly increase energy waste. Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM), which is a software-based tool, has been popular research area over last few decades. NILM play an important role providing future efficiency feedback developing fault detection diagnosis (FDD) tools smart buildings. Therefore, review NILM-based methods for FDD (EE) assessment HVACs be beneficial users as well facilities operators. To best authors’ knowledge, this paper first on application techniques these areas highlights effectiveness limitations. This shows that even though could successfully implemented EE evaluation HVACs, enhance performance techniques, there many opportunities to improve develop deal with real-world challenges. These challenges works also discussed in-depth.
